It’s time for a break from my entries on Turkey. And so I’m writing about burgers today. Uhmn yeah, burgers again why not? They seem to be the perfect filler in between articles in the website, and a respite in between trying sit-down restaurants. There are so many burger joints in Riyadh now but people don’t seem to tire of them yet. Whenever I see a new burger joint in one of the streets in the city, my eyes go big and sparkle like I’ve never seen a burger before in my entire life. Haha! I always make sure to remember where I saw the store and visit it when I have the chance. Take for example iBurger in Khurais Road near Pakistani Airlines. I always pass by that road and I suddenly saw iBurger. Heyyy, something new!
I went inside the newly-opened burger restaurant. iBurger doesn’t have a family area so I braved the men’s side… which was fortunately empty during that time. I went to the counter and looked for the menu. The cashier pointed me to an iPad. Uhmn what? He said I need to order through the iPad. But why can’t I just order from you?, I asked. He said the menu is there and all I have to do is push a few buttons to enter my order and then pay at the cashier. Again, why can’t I just talk to him? Ahhh technology.
Choices are not that many. They only have Double Angus Beef Burger, Angus Beef Burger, and Chicken Burger. Their kinds of fries have more choices: waffle fries, wedges, potato chips, regular fries, curly fries, crinkle fries and cube potatoes. If that’s not enough for you, you can top your fries with chilli and cheese. They also have all kinds of cheese sides too: mozarella sticks, swiss cheese wedges, chilli cheese nuggets, red hot jalapeno cream cheese, golden gouda sticks, cheese balls, and jalapeni cheese balls. Now, they also have onion rings! I was disappointed they didn’t have any other kinds for their onion rings. No onion squares?! Awww, haha! They have an array of sauces for their burger and fries too. Plus milkshakes to boot.
Hey, if I can enumerate almost all of a restaurant’s item on the menu, that means you won’t spend a lot of time deciding what to get. All the more time for eating!
I punched in an order of Double Angus Burger and curly fries. As simple as it can get huh. Since I was the only customer during that time, I got my order after ten minutes or so. I ate my combo at home because I couldn’t eat in their pristine and clean bachelor section.
I rarely get excited and surprised with burgers anymore. I had too many of them and that’s what happened with this burger. While it has a nice char to it and a juiciness that’s just right, there’s nothing special about this burger. The patty was lacks flavor, all the more reason I should’ve ordered their sauce because they’re probably in there to enhance the meat’s flavor. And because I had to eat it at home, the melted cheese isn’t as gooey anymore. It has solidified by the time I opened the box.
The fries too are nothing to rave about. I’m just happy to see it curly and crispy just the way I like it. Kudos to the packaging too. I love how simple yet streamlined and effective it is.
You can order at iBurger ahead of time by going to their website and picking it up in their branch.
I’m not sure what I’m looking for a burger anymore at this point. With probably some tweaks in flavor and a different spin on things, I would be compelled to go back and try iBurger again. But right now, I’m already on the lookout for the newest burger joint in town that not only serves a solid burger but also something different.
