Android users unite. Samsung Galaxy S6 is here! With its official release last April 10, 2015 in the Kingdom, I decided to go to Jarir bookstore to see if S6 is a worthy competitor to the iPhone 6. Samsung released two models, the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge. At first glance, you will see some similarity with the iPhone, like the location of the buttons, speaker, earphones, etc. But the buck stops there, because as you look closer, it proves that Samsung finally made the best Galaxy smartphone yet.
Octa-core processor, 5.1” Super AMOLED display, 16MP camera, fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, the list goes on how much technology Samsung packs up to this small device. And as I hold it in my hand, I feel that it’s not your run on the mill smartphone. Gorilla glass panel on the front and at the back and the round aluminum metal frame allow you to glide through your apps with ease. And with Android OS to boot, of choices of your free apps are endless.
But wait there’s more, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will bring your smartphone experience onto a whole new level. With its latest design, the double edge display made this phone a top choice of buyers. One cool feature is the “People Edge”, where you can access 5 pre-selected contacts just by sliding your finger from the edge. And if your phone is face down, a discreet edge lighting signals that you receive a call, text or email from your key contacts. We don’t normally put our phones face down, but with this cool addition, it may be a well good reason to do so. It also awesome to look at a display that flows up to the edge. I bet Samsung will be releasing more apps that support this Edge design.
I am clearly on board, but I wished Samsung considered the following things we loved about the Galaxy smartphones.
* The expandable memory (no micro SD slot), which is probably why they started with 32GB.
* Battery capacity is a bit small for its hardware, though they say it can go from 0 to 100% in just over an hour with fast charging.
* Water and dust resistance
* Samsung S6 Edge is a bit too pricey for its category.
Samsung S6 and S6 Edge has not that much a difference in specifications, but for the overall cool factor, Samsung S6 Edge give its competitors a run for their money and offers consumers a refreshing take on smartphones where innovations are clearly lacking. So if your gunning for an upgrade, or needed to switch, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will surely not disappoint.
