It’s that time in our generation wherein majority of our friends are getting married and having kids. (Yes, the remaining single ladies like us get asked “the dreaded question” a lot!) Nevertheless, in spite of their lifestyle changes, it’s nice to catch up with them and hear what life is like on the other side. 😉 I recently hung out at the mall with one of my childhood buddies (who is already a mom) and I couldn’t help but notice that instead of heading for the ladies’ section of the mall’s department store, which we usually do, her feet would instead lead us to the baby stores. No surprise there. I suppose that’s one of the habits that change from a single woman to that of a mom.
We had just finished having dinner at the Localizer Mall and decided to walk it off a bit until we ended up entering…you guessed it…a baby store! This bright and colorful store called Just Kidding is seriously filled with baby clothes, strollers and other baby-related utilities. Now this is like stepping into a different planet for me because I hardly pay attention to these stores at the mall. So while my friend went directly for what she was looking for, I spent some time rummaging around and found some stuff that may interest our mom-readers and the moms-to-be.
First off, I was drawn to these rocker onesies on the side aisle with very cheeky prints! Check it out:
There was also an aisle for tiny backpacks for toddlers and fancy lunch bags for the young preschooler. My friend says she really like the animal-themed ones. It also helps kids identify which animal is called what. 🙂
I also found some novelty-like items:
So I saw these stuffed animal heads that are for kids…but personally, I’d be a bit freaked out to see this in a dark room. If I were a baby, lying alone in my crib and this was in my room at night, I’d probably be a lil’ scared. That’s just me. 😛
Moving on, I headed on to the other half of the store that would be more likely to be explored more by the moms or parents who visit the store because it is packed with hundred of baby-related equipment and utilities that I couldn’t imagine they’d need. As we crossed over, we couldn’t miss the huge red shelf filled with state-of-the-art baby strollers:
After eyeing on some really fancy baby trolleys, I ended up in an array of baby-related equipment:
After having seen most of the items on the store, I can’t help but think how far (and expensive) child-rearing can be if one opts for these kinds of fancy things…especially since us millennials probably still reached that time when our parents took care of us using lampins (cloth diapers that could be washed and reused), duyans (fishnet-looking hammocks to rock babies to sleep in the Philippines) and not-so-fancy feeding bottles. Nevertheless, I saw the motherly excitement in the eyes of my friend as she showed me the things she wanted for her baby boy. It just goes to show that she just basically wants the best for him – as all mothers do.
When it comes to your kids’ clothes and stuff, Just Kidding is really not kidding! They’re serious on producing and bringing the best! The store definitely featured more unique brands and items apart from the mainstream mother/baby stores in town, according to my friend’s comment and it does seem to feature a lot of not-so-common brands/items that we’re aware of. I can also definitely tell that the items they feature are for the modern type of families. Anyway, this store already got me when I first saw those onesies. 🙂
As for us (the remaining single ladies): Who knows maybe one day, if we’re lucky enough to get to procreate, we’d trade in our shopping powers for shoes and bags to hoarding onesies and baby bottles instead? Is that exciting or what? YOLO. 😛
