When we released The Riyadhizen Planner in December 2014, we didn’t know where we can put it up so that people can get it easily rather than wait for our delivery schedules. One of the stores we thought of was Unique Gifts in Al Wurud. Unfortunately, the talks with the owner did not push through. However, this store remained at the back of my mind because they have the prettiest things that appeal to my creative side. If there’s a store I want to put up, it’s a stationery and gift shop which has a beautiful chaos feel to it. Like Unique Gift, and I finally had the chance to visit the store last weekend.
The first thing that entered my mind when I stepped into their store is “this is my wonderland!” It’s a small store with roughly a few square meters in the Prince Sultan Ibn Salman Ibn Abdulaziz Street. It’s a bit hard to find if you’re not familiar with the area but the map really helps. They have a lot of stuff in the store that I didn’t know where to start. It’s a hodge-podge of brands and products from Instagram stores. I saw a rack of cosmetics and being the makeup junkie that I am, I gravitated towards it pronto! They have a few Real Techniques brushes including the Metal Collections. They also have Frank Body, Wet & Wild, Physician’s Formula, E.L.F., Now Solutions, and Oz Naturals. They don’t have an extensive range of products from these brands but they have some of the bestsellers that are not easily available in pharmacies and department stores here in Saudi Arabia. Found out these skincare and makeup products came from the IG store @laperleshop.
Their prices for cosmetics and makeup products are a bit expensive, as expected. For example, Wet N Wild lipsticks are SR 35 each, Physician’s Formula powders are around SR 50 above and E.L.F. products are around the SR 40 range. They also have brush cleaners and brushes from Real Techniques and the bestselling brush egg and Nivea lip butter. Beside the cosmetics rack is the display for phone cases. They have the version of Lumee cases made popular by Kim Kardashian. Yes, the one that lights up taking your selfie to a brighter level. Haha! Quite expensive at SR 300+ though.
The left side of the store (when you enter) is dedicated to all things nice, pretty, and creative. They have stationeries, pillow cases, accessories, desktop decors, party favors, clocks, etc. I’ll let the photos talk because this is impossible to describe without them. Sorry I didn’t get the prices for each product that I will show and mention here but the Instagram of Unique Gifts is pretty updated and they reply asap. If you’re interested in any of the items here, you can message them in IG.
In the middle of the shop is a table filled with a lot of things. It will take me hours to go through each of them so I just took a photo on things that caught my interest. Their display is a bit disorganized but it’s a beautiful chaos, if you know what I mean.
There are more mugs and cups on a vintage looking cabinet near the door:
On the side near the glass wall is a shelf for amazing paper items. This is where I wanted to stay all day long, haha!
Near the store front is a rack for artistic items that are made by locals. Most of them are from Instagram stores. The jugs embellished with Starbucks-like logo is from @artist_abeer while some decorative letters and cards are from @tawq1. The pop paintings on frames are from @nuqta_shop and elif_shop1. The prints of @sahaba_designs are also available in cards and laptop cases. Knitted items from @elma_boutique can be seen on a crate.
Looking for huge, unique sunglasses and shades? The frames of @ego_ksa are available in Unique Gift.
For those looking for accessories and jewelries, they also have them!
There’s a shelf in the counter that feature food, mainly sweets like cookies, candies, and chocolates. Products come from @s_moresy, @kunafh_queen, @stop_n_shop_22, @sense_chocolate, @code7_, @sponza_sweets, @biscuit_shop, @boksha_ksa, @chocolatedreambox, @chococtober and @ghadah_cookies.
Truth be told, I’m a bit disappointed on how expensive the items here are. I know most of them are handcrafted, handmade, etc. but most of them are so expensive I couldn’t wrap my brain around it. Haha! Anyway, they sure are unique items and anyone who will receive these as gifts will be more than thankful. Some of the items are also perfect souvenirs that can be given to families and friends in an expat’s home country. While it’s a bit hard to find Unique Gifts, you can save on time and effort by availing of their delivery service. Check out their Instagram for more details!
