The introduction to this entry has been sitting in our Drafts section since the start of the year, and I only managed to finish it today. Actually, we have a lot of entries sitting in our drafts and we’ve been procrastinating for a while. Sorry about that. The adult life gets in the way sometimes. Haha! Anyway, we’ve been asked a few times for coffeeshops and restaurants that are meant for ladies only. Imagine just you and your girl friends enjoying good food and beverages in a nice setting. It’s tempting, especially when you just want to escape from the stress of work and home. When you just want to relax and be able to enjoy good conversations (nonsense stuff included) and having hearty laughters with your girl friends. You need your “me time”, ladies. Go ahead and indulge!
Here are the ladies only restaurants in Riyadh:
1. Senses Restaurant at Luthan Hotel and Spa
We have written about Senses Restaurant in our entry on Luthan Hotel. Of course, being inside a women-only boutique hotel will make this restaurant a women-only venue. This gourmet, rooftop restaurant has stunning views of the city. There’s an option to eat inside with the large picture windows opening up to a nice view or at the outdoor patio where a glass pyramid (hello Louvre) lends a nice touch to the overall elegance of the place. Senses is open all day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They use local and farm fresh ingredients; we enjoyed their organic salads and fruit juices when we visited last year. The hotel (and the restaurant) itself is away from the busy streets of Riyadh. It’s tucked in Abdulaziz Ibn Ahmad As Sudairi street near Nayarra Hall. It’s a pretty much quiet neighborhood and it’s the ultimate escape from the hustle of the modern woman’s daily grind. Oh btw, Luthan Spa, also inside the Luthan Hotel is nominated as the World’s Best Female Spa at the World’s Spa 2016 Awards. If that speaks high for the spa and hotel, then this topnotch service also extends to their in-house restaurant.
Vibe: Where the women who can afford go
Senses is not your ordinary restaurant in the city. It’s elegant, posh, and sophisticated. Its grandeur extends to the furniture and the design and you’ll know upon walking in the restaurant that you are in for an expensive yet exquisite treat. Their healthy Eastern European dishes will leave you wanting for more. We said “women who can afford” because when you go to Senses, you usually have the urge to combine it with a spa treatment or a trip to their gym so it’s an expensive day out but it’ll totally be worth it. You can still visit for just the restaurant though.
What To Order: Beef Carpaccio Arugula Salad, Grilled Salmon, Fresh Fruit Juices

2. Feminine Cafe
We stumbled upon Feminine Cafe during last year’s Ramadan. Starbucks shooed us away (literally, their barista did the gesture) because they were closing for prayer and so we ended up on the newly-opened Feminine Cafe. Thankfully, it was a women’s only cafe (no guys to shoo us, hmpft) so we felt right at home. We immediately fell in love with their pretty, dainty interiors especially when it came to their floral sofas. You can read about our experience in Feminine Cafe here. I must admit though that we haven’t been back to the cafe since that first time and we haven’t seen and tried their full menu but based on feedback from other visitors, we’re not missing much when it comes to their main menu of pizzas and sandwiches. You really just go there for their coffee and desserts. Oh, and if you have an all-ladies event (perfect for bridal and baby showers!).
Vibe: Where the women who can chat non-stop go
Because their main menu is not that much to see and try, Feminine Cafe is more of an after dinner venue where you ladies can chat all night. I haven’t been there in a full-packed night but I can say that you’re pretty much left to your own thing by the wait staff and other customers, especially if you manage to get the sofa seats. Also, the service is slow so you can definitely take your time and chat the night away!
What To Order: Chicken Quesadillas, Mint Coffee Toffee Latte, Layers Juice, Italian Sodas
3. Cafe Et La Dessert
It was the violet color of Cafe Et La Dessert that drew me to it haha. Seriously, that much purple must mean it’s a women’s restaurant right? I went there with a friend for breakfast and sadly we did not really enjoy it unless you can speak fluent Arabic and you can explain what you want to the wait staff. The breakfast food we had, consisting of lackluster pancakes and omelettes, didn’t compensate for how far we traveled to eat here. And while the interiors of the place looked plush and posh with their velvety sofas and twinkling crystals, we felt that it was too dark. We had to blink a lot to get our bearings after we went out the door to the normalcy of the mall where it’s at. So I guess the restaurant was really “another world” for us ladies. You can read our full review of the restaurant here.
Vibe: Where the women who love purple go
I told you, it’s the purple that will make you love or hate the place. Haha! The interiors are distracting but I guess they need that to distract women from what they’re eating, haha! I kid. Cafe Et La Dessert is great for events with your girls. It’s great for gathering your ladies and celebrating something. Don’t expect a fast service though. Like most ladies only restaurant in the city, they’re known for desserts and coffee so stick to that, unless you’re really hungry then they have quesadillas and sandwiches to tide you over.
What To Order: Sticky Date Pudding, Lotus Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Coffee, Lotus Frappe, Golden Glow Cocktail
Cafe Et La Dessert

4. Khairozan Women Cafe
I haven’t been to this cafe but just looking at the photos from their social media accounts, I can say that it looks lovely and rustic. It has that cozy vibe that makes visitors comfortable and relaxed. I can see myself settling in one of their tables or booths for the day (or night) and just daydream with friends. It has that pretty country side vibe to it with its soft, white fabric, flowers, gingham patterns, and lace. According to Foursquare surveys, the menu in Khairozan is limited and again, they’re mostly for coffee and desserts (which makes sense because they’re a cafe you know). This cute and stylish cafe will be a respite from the busy bee life that you’re living right now.
Vibe: Where the women who love to daydream go
It’s fancy and somewhat ethereal. It has a “once upon a time” vintage look that will appeal to the lady in you. If you’re a memory keeper or an old soul, this is where you go just because the photo frames painted white, trinkets, and the clocks on the washed walls will bring you to years gone by. It’s a place where you can go with friends, talk about your past and plans in life. Tell stories to your hearts content.
What To Order: Cake Date, Lotus Volcano, Cake with Chocolate Sauce, Coffee
5. Kanakah Cafe
This is the cafe that I would like to visit asap. It’s newly-opened and the overall interiors and concept really appeal to me. If I am to own a cafe of my own, this is my peg. Haha! Kanakah Cafe is a gorgeous cafe that caters only to women. Its aesthetics go away from the usual pink and purple interiors that mostly women restaurants or stores go for. They used wood and black iron and burlap. The whole cafe is a breeze to look at, even though I’m just looking at photos because I haven’t been to the place. I would LOVE to visit though. Their food and drink offerings seem to be well-thought of. It has received fairly good reviews since it opened a few months ago.
Vibe: Where the women who studies and creates go
And by create I mean, the artsy, creative crowd. You will love this coffeeshop! The atmosphere of the place is conducive for group studying and brainstorming. It also has a youthful ambiance that will make you want to either just chill or share ideas or both! The wait staff are also said to be friendly.
What To Order: Signature Kanakah Cake, Siphon Coffee
So there you go, a list of coffeeshops and restaurants that are only for you ladies! Most of them are only open from 4:00 PM to midnight. Prepare around SR 100 per person if you’re just going for coffee and dessert. If you’re in for the main meals, then share and your SR 100 to SR 200 is enough. If you’re looking for coffee shops and restaurants in between shopping, then you can visit the Ladies Floor of Kingdom Tower and you’ll find decent but overpriced coffeeshops there. We reviewed R Lounge before. The other coffee shops there serve your basic coffee and desserts so they’re just really a break from the tiring shopping that you’re doing especially this sale season. 😉
If you’re longing for some space without the burden of your husbands and kids… haha, kidding! We know that our husbands and your (since I don’t have one yet) kids are the most important people in our lives but of course, sometimes, we just want a break from the household chores, work, etc. even for just a few hours. For sure the men will understand. After all, the might also be looking for For Men Only restaurants. Oh right, who needs that here when they can pretty much go to the Bachelor aka Single section of any restaurant and coffeeshop in the city and find themselves in an all-male zone pronto. 😛
