Hello beauty aficionados of Riyadh! You’ve probably heard of Jeffree Star. Much has been said and written about him but I don’t want to dwell on those because I don’t know him personally and apart from his Youtube channel, I don’t follow him on his other social media accounts so all the issues being thrown at him, I probably haven’t seen them. I must admit that I like watching his makeup videos in Youtube. He’s very interesting and his videos are funny. I like the way he reviews beauty products, especially foundations (and by now you know how crazy I am about foundations). Anyway, apart from being a Youtube sensation and a rock star, he is also the owner of his own cosmetics line. His Jeffree Star Cosmetics produced the Velour Liquid Lipsticks which is a great liquid lipstick in my opinion. It goes on lightweight and the color is really pigmented. That says a lot considering I only have one. Yup, one.
Androgyny. It’s my first ever Jeffree Star Cosmetics lip product, along with the JS Skin Frost in Peach Goddess, a highlighter. I ordered them through Beautylish, an online boutique that sells cosmetic brands that you can’t immediately buy in your country. They have free shipping to Saudi Arabia for orders USD 100 and above. JS Velour Liquid Lipstick is USD 18 each. It’s a bit expensive considering that a Colourpop Ultra Lip is just USD 6. Now you know why I only have one Velour, so far. Haha! These products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Anyway, I picked the color Androgyny because it looks really wearable. If you check out the JS lip shades, they’re a bit too bright or too nude. That’s great if you like those colors but I don’t favor those hues because they’re not suited for my skin tone. So yes, I went for something plum and mauvey. That’s Androgyny. The packaging is nice; it’s hot pink and feels luxe. The cap locks into place. One swipe is all it took to make it opaque in my lips. The color is so pigmented and not streaky. It dried out completely after a few seconds and it really stayed for hours! After eating and drinking, it has a slight feathering but most of the product stayed on my lips and it still looked great. It feels incredible in the lips mainly because I couldn’t feel it’s there! Haha! It’s lightweight and comfortable!
Like most liquid lipsticks, this Velour Liquid Lipstick is a bit hard to apply. I had to be precise and fast (and that’s not easy, ladies!). However, it’s still one of the better liquid lipsticks in the market. The shades are unique too and I love the names he gives to them: very bold, edgy, and definitely carries his “who cares?” attitude. Have you seen the shades Jawbreaker, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Blue Velvet, Flamethrower, and Dreamhouse? These are the “in your face!” colors! Whenever I watch Jeffree Star, I am awed with his confidence and I slightly feel this confidence whenever I wear his liquid lipstick. I swear it has this effect on me, haha! I’m eyeing the shades Gemini, Sagittarius, and No Tea, No Shade next.
