Staying in Savoy Central Dubai

About three weeks ago, Janelle and I went on a trip to Dubai after being invited by Savoy Central Dubai to review their hotel amenities and services. The flight fees were on us but they offered a weekend stay for two at one of their suites. If you saw Episode 5 our our Youtube Channel, you’ll see our video coverage of the hotel and the new attractions in Dubai that we visited (scroll below). Since Eid is coming up and most people have a super-extended vacation ahead, let us get you in the know of one of the very accessible hotels that you can stay in should you visit Dubai any time soon.

Savoy Central Dubai is located in the heart of Bur Dubai, around 20 minutes from the airport and is close to several establishments such as restaurants and malls. The nearest metro station is the Al Fahidi Station (green line).

As we arrived, we were served with welcome drinks at the lobby, which was decorated with a relaxing combination of green and brown. On the right side was the coffee lounge and dining area as well. We submitted our documents at the reception and they gave us our room keys and most importantly, the wifi password. 🙂

The restaurant greets you on your right.

We needed those drinks since it was quite hot from outside.

It houses a total of seven floors with 154 executive studio rooms and a dedicated rooftop pool, a gym and steam and sauna rooms. We were taken to the top floor where our room was #717 and we started documenting our stay via video. Though, we still have photos for you right here:

We received a complimentary fruit basket. <3

The beds were inviting us for a nap right on the spot!

A couch by the bed. (The TV is in front of the couch).

A view of the kitchenette.

There’s even a built-in washing machine and and ironing board set in the cabinets.

Bathroom essentials.

I’m glad to see a hair blower! <3

Humid weather calls for a shower.

As you can see, the rooms are well-equipped to be self-sufficient. There’s a fridge, microwave and electric oven for you to use should you want to cook for yourself or your companions. There’s a washing machine and ironing set if you prefer to get your clothes done yourself and there is also a TV set and over 60 cable channels to choose from should you want to lounge around and rest after a long day of touring the city (I did that!). It’s these amenities and more that make their starting rate of 177.29 AED/day very reasonable and worth your buck.

Now, we want to see that pool! 🙂

There is a separate pool for kids too. #kidfriendly

Fyi, this is a temperature-controlled pool so even though it’s hot out, the water stays cool.

Access to the pool, gym and steam and sauna rooms are included in every guests’ stay in the hotel. We didn’t go swimming there during our stay but we saw a couple of male guests enjoying the pool and sunbathing too. Our sunbathing happened in Legoland later on. 😉

On the second day, while I went to meet some of my relatives in Dubai, Janelle stayed in and tried out their room service. She ordered fish fingers and steak just to try both and had them delivered to our room.

That looks generous.

According to her, the fish fingers were okay and that she liked the steak better as it was tasty and cooked well. The service staff were courteous and the food was delivered in a timely manner. On our final morning at the hotel, we were able to try their breakfast buffet which had an adequate selection of local and international recipes that we enjoyed. You can find that on our Episdoe 5 video too.

What’s breakfast without some toast and butter?

My flight back to Riyadh was at noon that day and Janelle left for the Philippines later that night so we left Savoy Central separately. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay in the hotel  and while it’s not a super fancy place, it did provide us with what we needed. I  think it is a good option for families and friends who would like to stay for three days and more in Dubai and are interested in capitalizing on those built-in amenities to give more value to their money. We love how accessible it is to commuting and that it’s easy to find. Their service was spot on and showed how well trained the staff were. Thanks for having us, Savoy Central Dubai!
