When we say we got really serious about our skincare regimen when we reached our 30s, we are really serious! Takot tumanda mga beshies! Haha! Reina and I started investing on more skincare products that we researched and tried and tested for months. I, for one, lengthened my skincare routine every morning to incorporate essence water, serums, and more moistrurizers. I should have done this when I was in my 20s but I am lazy AF, I know. Haha! Anyway, the first few winter weekends that we had saw us travel in, around, and outside Riyadh. Our faces were exposed to the sun and honestly, we like that. Hello Vitamin D! But we were also exposed to dust, dirt and sand. I felt like my skin needed some extra tender loving care and some major deep cleansing. In short, a facial treatment was on the works!
I had the HydraFacial MD® at the Resense Spa of Burj Rafal Kempinski Hotel. Before I review and explain what went into my treatment, can I just say how I like Resense Spa? It’s one of the hotel spas that really evokes relaxation and tranquility. And on a Saturday morning, I was the first person in the spa and I love how I feel like I own the place. Resense Spa has been designed to ensure a totally luxurious experience. Their decors are nothing extravagant but the ambiance is great and the service is topnotch. It features separate male and female wellness areas, saunas, steam rooms, indoor plunge pools, and 11 treatment rooms. Considering how “far” Burj Rafal Kempinski is from the city center, this is totally the “near yet far” getaway every one is looking for. The service menu is short but they’re all vital for making clients relaxed and refreshed after a busy week of work, non-stop errands, traffic, etc. Truly, Resense Spa is the ultimate luxury spa that leaves no detail to chance.
I was introduced to their new facial called HydraFacial MD® by friends from DQ Living magazine. They were gushing about how radiant their faces were after their treatment that I know I have to visit and try it. This treatment is an advanced medical-grade skin care treatment that targets fine lines and wrinkles, congested, oily, and acne-prone skin, rosacea and hyperpigmentation. It also minimizes the appearance of large pores, improves skin texture and tone, and helps repair existing sun damage. I think I’m in the congested and oily skin category with large pores to boot. The HydraFacial packages includes the Booster HydraFacial (30 minutes), HydraFacial (60 minutes) and Deluxe HydraFacial (90 minutes). I had the Booster HydraFacial and I’m so excited! I’m so ready for this facial!
I was welcomed by the staff of Resense Spa on Saturday morning. It was a great winter day and I’m really giddy with excitement. I can’t remember when I had my last facial and I’m guessing it was during one of my vacation days in the Philippines because honestly, the facials here in Riyadh are expensive! In the Philippines, I can already get a great facial with massage with SR 100! Well I have no complaints in being here in Riyadh so might as well splurge from time to time (time=once in a blue moon). The Booster HydraFacial is SR 450. YES. They even have a complete package for SR 2,000!!! Do you want that? Haha. Anyway, the staff are friendly and they made me feel right at home in an instant.
A staff showed me to the locker room and I love how digital and easy to use their lockers are. I found the restrooms a bit tiny but they’re all clean. I changed into this luxurious purple robe even though I’m only getting a facial, haha. I had a few minutes in their Relaxation Room that has plush sofas and seats. So comfy and warm!
It also has a nice view of the street scene below and the buildings nearby. One of the staff then called me and led me to one of the treatment rooms that also has glass walls overlooking the city scene below. Everything was fast, easy, and comfortable.
The facial starts with cleansing then Ruby, the assistant, started using the HydraFacial machine. Every time she uses a new tool, she explains to me what it is. Halfway through, I think I must have dozed off and my mind went blank. Haha. All I heard was Exfoliation and Extracting. She used a tool on both instances that has a vacuum effect. If you have tried Dermaroller, this feels like it. Only this one is gentler and more calming to the skin.
When I go to facials, I dread the extraction part because it hurts! Digging all those junk out from pimples and pores is really painful and so when Ruby announced that she’s doing the extraction already, I braced myself. I was pleasantly surprised that this one didn’t hurt a bit. I was actually curious if she managed to take out all the white and black heads and dirt and grime on my skin because of how gentle the process was. After the extraction came the laser therapy which was just a few minutes. After that, some moisturizer and sunscreen and voila! The 30 minutes of HydraFacial was over. I wanted for it to go on and on… Haha!
Truly. it is one of the most pain-free, relaxing facial I had. I feel that my skin was really soft and smooth after that. It also felt squeaky clean! I’m so in love with the HydraFacial but the price tag takes me aback. While it’s truly worth the price, I doubt I’ll repeat this one any time soon. Too bad because I know repetitive sessions on this will bring out the glow and smoothness of my skin. I’m happy to be able to try this though. I’m also looking forward to try the massage and spa treatments of Resense Spa. They have various massages including the Candle Massage which is perfect for the winter time and they also have the Deep Cleanse Bath, a delicious combination of steam, heat, water and soap massage. You can check out their service menu HERE.
For the entire December, they are having 25% off on all their services from Sunday to Wednesday. They’re also offering a Day-Spa visit. For SR 299, you get access to the outdoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, laconium room, and the cold plunge pool. It’s a good time to have a good me-time!
