Ladies, y’all know how hard it is to shop for gifts for guys right? Whether it’s your brother or father or your significant other, I always get dumbfounded on what to get them. Though Father’s Day had already passed and so has Eid, I just thought it might help to share with you some of the things I’ve considered in shopping for guys. In case you want to get a headstart on your Christmas shopping, read on. (Yes, the -Ber months are coming).
What you’d have to realize about dudes is that — you can’t easily just buy a cute purse or a nice pair earrings. It’s not as easy as shopping for women. For us girls, a hot lipstick or a pair of new shoes/bag would do the trick. Maybe even a simple bouquet of flowers and chocolates, even. But most guys these days are into gadgets. And gadgets. are. not. cheap! Grrr. (LOL). Unless you want him to settle for a tie.
Well, let’s start small. One of my easiest (and most affordable) defaults would be a tumbler. They can use it every day whether it’s for coffee at work or for juice/water during basketball or badminton, the bottomline is — it’s something useful Men like things that are useful.
Then there’s the watches. A lot of guys seem to consider their watch as a status symbol. I don’t really understand it, but I’ve heard it said a couple of times. Some guys even go as far as collecting them, from the mainstream brands to the vintage kind. I think some girls do too, but most of the people I know who does are guys. The latest fad these days are the G-Shock by Casio. There is also the latest techie-dagety-watches that can be connected to your phone’s bluetooth. Apart from telling the time, they can also serve as an mp3 player and answer/reject calls.
Apart from watches, one of the few accessories most guys can’t live without is the SHADES. With the hot sun of Saudi Arabia, all men need to protect their eyes especially when out and about driving. There are a lot of brands to choose from, but Ray Bands and Oakley seem to make the top of the list. You can find them in all optical shops scattered around town.
A lot of guys are photography buffs too, especially here in Riyadh as it is a popular hobby. So why not get him a camera? This choice may be a pricey one but it will surely give your guy a creative avenue. Plus, you can get him to take your pictures for you and be an instant model! Haha. It may be good news for you to know that DSLR’s are on the decline and point-and-shoot cameras are more popular nowadays. If your guys is an adventure buff and is into photography/videography, he’ll definitely love the GoPro Hero+3 set.
Well, at the end of the day ladies, it’s the thought that counts. Whether you get them a tie or a sports shirt, I’m sure it’ll be appreciated. But if you do get them a Playstation 4 or something like that, then I would say the difference in their reactions would be a far cry. 😛
Happy weekend, everyone!
