A few weeks ago, we were invited to partake in the seafood buffet at Flavours, the restaurant serving international cuisines of Rosh Rayhaan by Rotana. We are so glad that there are more and more hotels and restaurants offering seafood in Riyadh that we’re probably ready to write a round-up. But before that, we need to try all seafood buffets first right? Haha! Anyway you might want to read this entry today so that you still have time to reserve for tomorrow. If these photos won’t make you want to reserve for a table in their seafood night, we don’t know what will! Haha!
Rosh Rayhaan by Rotana has just opened this year but they are creating a buzz not only with their five-star status but also for their contemporary designs, well-furnished rooms and offices, and stellar food offerings. We had their high tea before and it was amazing! Their scones are my favorite! With its central location, Rosh Rayhaan is one of the go-to hotels for the busy businessmen and travelers because it’s surrounded by shopping areas and is a short drive away from malls and restaurants. But then again, if you have Flavours Restaurant just inside the hotel, I don’t think you still want to go out and have your dinner somewhere else; especially on Wednesdays when they have their seafood buffet!
Rosh Rayhaan’s all-day dining restaurant, Flavours, offers their seafood buffet every Wednesday night from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM for SR 249 per person inclusive of soft drinks, water, coffee, and tea. They have fresh seafood and other savory, delicious dishes from the Middle East, Asia and the West. Their appetizers are filled with refreshing salads, tasty maki rolls, flavorful Indian dishes, crunchy Thai crackers (my fave), and various kinds of breads.
Of course, the highlight of the night is the SEAFOOD. Of course, seafood excites Riyadhizens like us because Riyadh is in the middle of the desert and every time we have fresh seafood in front of us, we feel like being transported to a land near the sea. So it’s a different and unique excitement for our palates. The restaurant’s “sailor” designs are on point. I kind of feel I’m dining inside a ship. The ambiance was perfect. Their displays made our eyes widen in glee; it was just right. They don’t have a lot to overwhelm; they just have the right amount of food to entice and whet (and fill later on) the appetite. I think I got star struck by the lobsters and prawns from their ice display. Look here so that you can also see what made our taste buds jump for joy:
The main attraction is their live cooking stations. We picked whatever seafood we like and let them cook it accordingly. We got to choose from frying, baking, grilling, etc. Because it was my first time, I let the chefs choose the style of cooking that is best for my prawns. He had it grilled with butter. When they brought it to my table, the prawns were piping hot and they smelled so good! They tasted good too.
While waiting for the seafood to cook, we went around the buffet stations and got other savory dishes that are ready to be devoured.
And my favorite savory dish is the DUCK. I know you went for the seafood but for your other meat, go for the duck! So succulent and juicy and delicious! You have to try this!
As for carbs, they have a live pasta and risotto cooking station:
Our friend slash intern Kim tried the risotto and she liked it. It was creamy and she was satisfied with how the ingredients she chose was incorporated to the dish. If you’re not a risotto kind of person, then go for the paella.
Just by looking at these photos again, I am reminded of how full I was during this dinner. But of course, there was always room for dessert:
Apart from the usual sweets, they have an array of cut fruits. I was happy to see rambutan, a fruit that’s popular in the Philippines:
Don’t forget to try their chocolate fountain. Dip their cake pops in the chocolate and it’s quite a sensational end to this seafood madness meal.
Go and have your fill of the ocean’s bounty at the Seafood Night of Flavours Restaurant at the Rosh Rayhaan by Rotana. For reservations, call +966 (0)11 4479888. Bring a huge appetite and don’t drown on so much seafood, yeah? Haha!
