You know how some foundation powders can come off as a bit cakey or too “matte-y” on the face? I dislike that look and while looking “baked” is a makeup trend that is IN at the moment, I prefer my every day look to just be simple, presentable and set. I like putting on foundation on special days but I’m trying to look for a good setting powder that will complete the look. Right now I couldn’t afford ordering a full cannister of Ben Nye Luxury Powder so I browsed along my trusty Sephora store to look for a generic alternative.
There I found the Prep and Perfect Smoothing and Brightening Powder. In high school, I used to use baby powder to cover up my oily spots and I figured that this might be the next best upgrade to that. As I applied it, I liked how it wasn’t overly “white” on my face but created the right kind of blur instead. It acted as a setting powder too as I noticed that it kept my base makeup throughout the day. I only needed one retouch from day to night and it kept the rest of my face in place. The only downside is the value for money. I paid 65Sr for this and the packaging can be misleading. You would think that there was enough product but it only lasted me two weeks and a half at most. The “powder cake” is actually quite thin and you’ll start seeing the base of the container after a week even though I was only applying it once or twice a day. Having said that, I’m still on the lookout for another alternative.
