Beauty Bets: July 2017 Empties

Or, “almost” empties! Haha.

It’s been quite a while since I wrote a “product empties” entry. I’m starting to clean out my dresser last July to see what I’m keeping and what I’m not. I’ve also been deliberately overusing some of the products in my arsenal so I can finally throw away the nearly empty ones. So without further ado, here are some products that I’ve used up! Bear in mind that I haven’t used them for one month only, but a duration of monthS since 2017 started. I only got to almost finish them up last July. Let me know if you use the same products in the comment section down below.

1. Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing WaterAll-in-1 Makeup Remover and Cleanser

My holy grail makeup remover

What: This All-in-1 cleanser is surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin. It effectively removes makeup, cleanses and refreshes skin. A multi-purpose cleanser that contains Micellar technology. Like a magnet, micelles capture and lift away dirt, oil and makeup without harsh rubbing, leaving skin perfectly clean, hydrated and refreshed without over-drying.
Price: SR 25+
Where To Buy: Whites Pharmacy, Boots Pharmacy
Rating: 5 out of 5
Will I Repurchase? Definitely yes!

I love this cleansing water! It’s affordable and effective! I think the description already says it all. This removes dirt and makeup on my face like no other’s business but at the same time, it’s gentle and doesn’t smell like chemicals. It doesn’t smell like anything at all! It doesn’t irritate my skin. Granted that it doesn’t remove all of the mascara or eyeliner from my eyes in one swipe but honestly, this is enough for me. I sometimes use this after I use my cleansing oil to just finish off the residue of hard-to-remove makeup and they both work great. It’s even better than the more expensive cleansing water in the market. This is a great addition to your skin care routine, especially if you wear makeup every day.

2. The Body Shop Body Butter (Strawberry)

What: Our deliciously fruity body butter will melt into your skin, for an intensely moisturizing experience. Reveal silkier-softer, strawberry scented skin after every use.
Price: SR 29 (50 ml)
Where To Buy: The Body Shop branches (Panorama Mall, Kingdom Mall, etc.)
Rating: 4 out of 5
Will I Repurchase? Not now.

There was a time when I was obsessed with The Body Shop’s Strawberry Body Butter. Actually, the all of the products in their Strawberry line. My friends knew how much I liked this that they even gave me a set for my birthday a few years ago. I moved on from it because I got introduced to other brands and other scents. A few months back, TBS went on sale and I picked up a small tub of the body butter in Strawberry; I fell in love all over again! It’s just so sweet-smelling (I’m partial to fruity sweet scents btw)! It’s soft and buttery and just luscious! It’s easily absorbed by the skin and it nourishes dry skin instantly. I keep the tub in my office table so that every time I feel like my hands need some tender loving care, I slather on some of this body butter with cold-pressed strawberry seed oil. I feel so much better! However, I’m not re-purchasing now because I still have some lotion from other brands that I need to try and finish.

3. The Body Shop Born Lippy (Raspberry)

I mistook this for the strawberry variant. Haha.

What: Dip into our raspberry scented lip balm, for hydrated lips that feel nourished. The pretty pink tint will give lips a pretty pop of color, while keeping them beautifully soft.
Price: SR 25 (10 ml)
Where To Buy: The Body Shop branches (Panorama Mall, Kingdom Mall, etc.)
Rating: 2 out of 5
Will I Repurchase: No.

Along with the body butter, I also loved The Body Shop’s Born Lippy Lip Balm. It was one of those first “makeup” that I had. As a teenager, this was a must-have during those days. Every girl in my class probably had it in their bags. I had one too and of course, that would be the strawberry flavor. It smells super nice and also taste nice (although I don’t eat it, of course, lol). It has a nice sheer pink tint to it that is school-friendly and won’t get the looks of teachers reprimanding girls for wearing very visible makeup. I remembered really loving this product. However, picking this up a few years later, I don’t enjoy it as much now. It’s not as hydrating and nourishing. I hit pan on this but I’m throwing this away even though it’s not empty because it’s past its expiration date. Testament to how I haven’t used this that much.

4. Derma -E Anti-Wrinkle Toner

Using anti-wrinkle toner in my 30s is a must. Lol.

What: Remove impurities, rebalance skin and reduce the appearance of pores with this pH balanced, refreshing toner. Rich in skin-renewing Vitamin A and purifying Marine Plant Extracts, this alcohol-free formula leaves your complexion bright and refreshed. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free.
Price: SR 42
Where To Buy: iHerb, Al Nakheel Mall

Will I Repurchase? No

I can’t remember the blogger who recommended this toner along with its moisturizer. She said it gave her skin a lift and a boost that helped her makeup become flawless-looking. I used this anti-wrinkle vitamin A glycolic toner because its pH-balanced and alcohol-free. It promises to remove skin impurities, rebalance the skin, and reduce the look of pores and wrinkles. The first one it did: it helped my makeup removers in dealing with rouge makeup stains and dirt. I didn’t notice any reduction of my pores though and I might have been too eager to use an anti-wrinkle toner when I can’t see any in my face yet (but prevention is better than cure right?). It’s a cool toner but it has a scent that I’m not into. I can’t wait to try other toners!

5. Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea Signature Collection Eau de Toilette

My favorite scent from Bath&Bpdy Works.

What: This Eau de Toilette gives you a more intense, longer-lasting aroma. Master perfumers have blended a unique formula of the finest ingredients for a unique fragrance experience.
Price: SR 100+
Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works branches (Hayat Mall, Sahara Mall, Granada Mall, etc.)
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Will I Repurchase? No, because I still have another bottle

My ultimate Bath and Body Works scent is Sweet Pea. It has my favorite notes in a fragrance: fruity with its pear, blackcurrant, and raspberry notes and floral with its freesia and pink peony notes. This is a scent that is not cloying and not overwhelming. And will you look at that gorgeous bottle! This eau de toilette version of Sweet Pea is one of my most favorite fragrance to wear. It makes me happy just spritzing it in the morning. I was so in love with this that when Bath & Body Works went on sale a year ago, I bought two of these! Well, one bottle lasted me a loooong time that I’m just hitting the bottom now. I still have one to use! Haha! Let me know what your favorite BBW scent is!

That’s it for this Beauty Bets entry! Let me know if you have skincare and beauty products that you swear by! I’d like to take them for a spin. 😉
