What To Do In Riyadh (June 30-July 7, 2022)

Another week is ending in the desert and we welcome the weekend with open arms! For our Muslim brothers and sisters, the crescent moon has been sighted yesterday evening. The first day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic Hijri calendar is today. The five-day Eid Al-Adha celebration will begin on July 9, 2022. But before that, there’s a whole week that we are looking forward to starting today! So, what’s going on, Riyadh?

Of course, we’re beginning with Riyadhelicious updates! There are some restaurants that opened and also, we reviewed tried and tested restaurants and cafes in our Facebook page. You might have missed those so we’re summarizing them here for you.

Monte Carlo-based steakhouse BEEFBAR has finally opened their branch in Tahlia Street, Riyadh. Beefbar creates incredible, tasty yet simple dishes in their glam, modern, and luxe restaurants. Their menu is divided into street food inspired by international recipes, meats sourced in Australia, Japan and the US, and iconic dishes from sides to main and desserts. The resto opened yesterday, June 29.

The King Abdullah Financial District has become an icon in Riyadh. Every time we see the skyscrapers, we are reminded of how fast the city is changing. In the midst of all these tall towers are restaurants that are contributing to the international taste of this metro. URTH CAFFE, home to organic heirloom coffees and fine teas, has opened a branch in KAFD. You might want to check their resto in its natural elegance, and of course their good food, decadent cakes, and milk teas (yes, they still have the boba). And what’s great about this Urth? It’s open 24 hours!

Gorgeous interiors!

Here’s a recap of all restaurants and cafe’s we visited last week along with the food we had delivered. Who knows what will catch your fancy today? We’re always hungry so we have to have options, options, options!

We discovered a Chinese restaurant that has a confusing name. In their signage, it says “AL-SOUR AL-SHARQI RESTAURANT TO SERVE MEALS” so we’re sticking to that. They have a very sulit 2 huge bowls of beef noodles for SR 55 only! Plus an array of authentic Chinese dishes like Spicy Tofu, Dumplings, Beef with Brown Sauce and more. Prices are affordable especially when you’re in with a group. For those who missed PIZZA HUT, they re-opened a branch in Anas Bin Malik. For sushi lovers, we went back to our fave restaurant SOMA SUSHI BAR. They have a new topping for their trending ramen: crispy chicken. You should try it along with their maki rolls and shrimp tempura. And here comes dessert options: the fantastic BOMBASTIC, bombolonis or round-shaped doughnuts filled with various flavors like Blueberry, Lotus, Espresso, Custard, and more. Or maybe try the chouquette or French cream puff at MIHIMIHI. Sabayan na rin ng coffee. Or maybe a good old cookie of BEN’S COOKIES. My favorites from their classic cookie collection are Milk Chocolate and Coconut. So soft with crisp edges! Do not forget the ice cream and milkshakes especially summer in Riyadh this year will be extra hot. BASKIN’ ROBBINS always deliver with their 31 flavors, one for each day of the month. Mint Chocolate Chip and Cookies And Cream never fail. For coffee, we went to this quaint coffeeshop named AO Cookies and Coffee.

Another option perfect for the hot weather is SNOW CITY. Okay, we must admit: we haven’t been to this 6000 sqm snow-themed park in Othaim Mall. Maybe this season we’ll go? Haha. Anyway, enjoy the winter activities with the fab fam! They have an ongoing offer of SR 399 for 3 people and SR 599 for five people. Open to 3 years old and above.
